Microsoft has reiterated that there are no plans to reduce the price of the Xbox 360 console, telling our sister site Eurogamer that a lower priced Core System is at retailer's discretion.
Persistent rumours that the company plans to officially lower the cost of its base level next-gen console with in the next few days have been denied once again, but Microsoft representatives admit that certain retailers have already decided to do it.
"Retail price is set by our retail partners," a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer.
"Retailers are already selling Xbox 360 Core System from ?199.99, which we believe is outstanding value to consumers."
